Because this flag is for classrooms, it’s important to know the history. The original design of this flag was designed in 1777 by Betsy Ross. But it’s believed that was a mix-up and Francis Hopkins actually designed the US flag. Regardless of who may have invented the original flag, there have been 27 different changes since then which led up to the flag we see today. This design was by Robert G. Heft. At the time he was a 17-year-old doing a high school project that consisted of designing the flag. Little did he know it would end up becoming the official US flag. What’s even crazier is that he received a B- on the project. There are currently 5 flags standing on the moon. There was 6 at one point but one of the flags fell over, that flag was the one placed by Neil Armstrong during the Apollo 11 mission. This flag is perfect for any classroom for any age.
